Meet Marcel who works as an UX Process Developer
What could an ordinary day look like for you?
My role is a UX process developer which means that in my everyday work I try to oversee different processes as a whole and make them more efficient and user-friendly. That could involve logistics and work with apps that we use to get goods and send orders to a customer, it could involve working closely with marketing and content to update our page and design a good solution for our customers but it could also involve trying to create teamwork between different departments and help them with their work processes.
My workday starts with touch base meetings with colleagues from my team where we can discuss challenges in our work, help each other with blockers and recognize our successes. Most of my days are filled with meetings where I try to facilitate inputs from different departments and write specifications for developers. After those meetings, I usually try to sit down and sketch the ideas and insights that I gathered and later test them out with real users. I believe that this type of work ensures the best quality, improves communication between departments and creates a feeling that we are playing in the same team.
What is the best part of working at Jollyroom?
The best part is that a lot of people are very passionate about creating a great user experience. Our employees are involved in constant improvements both on the customer side and in-house.
On a private note, the best thing for me is that Jollyroom cares about equality and diversity. I'm a transgender person and people around me respect my pronouns and identity in a way that makes me feel safe and welcome.
What personal qualities do you think are important to enjoy working at Jollyroom?
Being social is the most important I would say since as a UX designer you meet a lot of people, listen to them, interview them and test ideas with them.
How do you spend your free time?
I'm a couch potato so for me there is nothing better than staying inside with a cup of tea and a good book, cosy video game or true crime series. Sometimes I'm forced to go out since I have a dog so I also enjoy long walks in the forest.
How do you make life easier for families with children in your role?
I believe that by simplifying the user experience of our webshop we can make shopping for families with children a satisfactory feeling and something that they enjoy, rather than a necessity that they need to deal with.
